Collaborative Approach

Life is all about relationships, and that requires being able to get along with people from all walks of life. The role of a leader is not to have all the ideas, but to create an environment where everyone can have ideas and feels comfortable sharing them. You can practice this by finding a project at home that needs to be organized and planned, and ask your girl to take it on. The key is that it needs to be something that requires other people’s input and participation. Some ideas could be to have her plan a family dinner, in which each family member has a responsibility and she coordinates it. Grocery shopping and all. Or how about have her plan something involving the extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins) whereby she has to send emails and make phone calls to get everyone involved. The key is that your girl has the chance to plan, organize and work with different people working towards the same goal.

A Golden Rule … If you don’t need credit for a job well done, anything can be accomplished.

Keep her eye on the goal, not her ego and great things can be done.

Good leaders know this. Now your girl will too.
